A Vancouver police officer has been charged in connection with a case that left a man with serious injuries last September.
The B.C. Prosecution Service said Thursday that it has approved a charge of driving without due care and attention against Const. John Pankratz in relation to an incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Sept. 12, 2018 on Hamilton Street in downtown Vancouver.
Pankratz was allegedly driving an unmarked police vehicle that was involved in the pursuit of a man who was fleeing a crime scene on a bicycle.
The B.C. Prosecution Service says there was a collision between the police vehicle and the bicycle that resulted in injuries to the cyclist.
The Motor Vehicle Act charge was sworn against Pankratz on Thursday in Vancouver Provincial Court.
He is expected to return to court on Oct. 7.
