Workers at a second downtown Vancouver hotel have given their employer strike notice.
The 400 union workers, members of UNITE HERE Local 40, voted in favour of 72-hour strike notice at the Hyatt Regency hotel on Monday, meaning pickets could go up in front of the Burrard Street hotel as early as Thursday morning.
Workers at the Hotel Georgia issued their strike notice earlier this month, and could strike at any time.
Staff at the the Westin Bayshore, Pinnacle and Four Seasons hotels are also part of the downtown hotel bargaining.
The 1,500 Local 40 members working at the hotels have been without contracts for up to a year.
A union spokesperson says the workers at the Hyatt, and the other high-end hotels, are “fighting for safer working conditions, stable jobs and livable wages.”
