Suspected car thief shot dead in Cauayan City

CAUAYAN, Isabela: A suspected car thief was killed in a shootout with police after stealing a motorcycle on Thursday night.
Noel Guzman of Ugac Sur in Tuguegarao City died on the spot in Nagrumbuan where he drove the Yamaha Sniper 150, according to Police Col. Mariano Rodriguez, Isabela police director.
Also seized from Guzman were a cal. 45 revolver, an empty shell, two sachets of suspected shabu, a driver’s license and assorted documents.
Rodriguez said Guzman took away the motorcycle owned by Armand Madriaga in Sitio Research, Minante 1 and fled to Nagrumbuan where he tried to remove the plate number.
Police spotted and frisked the suspect who drew and fired his gun.
Police allegedly took cover and fired back, killing Guzman instantly. VINCE JACOB A. VISAYA
