Traffic alert: Road closures Saturday for GranFondo cycling race

Thousands of cyclists are expected to race 122 kilometres up the Sea to Sky corridor Saturday for Vancouver’s annual RBC GranFondo.

Drivers are being advised that delays of up to three hours are expected between West Vancouver and Whistler from 5:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., according to B.C.’s Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

Cyclists participating in the event will travel over the Lions Gate Bridge, up Taylor Way and Cypress Bowl Road, along the Upper Levels Highway 1 and Highway 99, and will finish in Whistler.

The government says the following traffic changes, detours and delays will be in effect:
