Vancouver boy and San Jose Sharks’ Evander Kane scored a great shot for this year’s ESPN’s Body Issue – but it’s not a slap shot.
Kane bared almost everything in a photoshoot with Vancouver-based photographer Marcus Eriksson for ESPN’s annual feature, which was uncovered this week.
The raw, barely-there images celebrate the power and strength of some of the most watched athletes in the world. This year’s issue will be the last print edition of the ESPN magazine before it moves online.

Kane graces this year’s issue, along with golfer Brooks Koepka, surfer Lakey Peterson, the Philadelphia Eagles offensive line, and former UCLA gymnast Katelyn Ohashi.
Paralympian Scout Sassett, Free Solo climber Alex Honnold, and former WNBA star and coach Nancy Lieberman were also photographed for the issue, along with others.
Kane, who was born in Vancouver in 1991, played for the Vancouver Giants, winning the Memorial Cup in 2007 and named to the Western Hockey League’s West First All-Star Team in 2009. He’s also competed with Team Canada in 2008 and 2009 and at the IIHF World Championships in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014.
He was was selected fourth overall during the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Atlanta Thrashers and currently plays left wing for the San Jose Sharks.
Kane’s photos for the ESPN Body Issue were shot in Vancouver, B.C. by Vancouver-based Swedish photographer Marcus Eriksson earlier this year.
