A 24-year-old man was arrested early Friday morning in connection with an arson fire in Kelowna.
Kelowna RCMP say the fire broke out at a house in 800 block of Galbraith Place around midnight.
Before police arrived on the scene, residents stopped and restrained a man they believed responsible for setting the blaze.
The man, a 24-year-old Kelowna resident whose name was not released, was taken into police custody and arson-related charges are pending.
No injuries were reported.
Cpl. Meghan Foster of the Kelowna RCMP said police will be investigating links between Friday’s incident and other recent fires.
“While there have been other fires reported in this area, it is too early to know if the incidents are linked and the same firebug is responsible,” said Foster.
“The quick actions of public assisted the police in the apprehension of the suspect and fortunately no one was hurt during the process.”
