Two-time Best Import Allen Durham will remain as Meralco’s import for the fourth consecutive year, as Season 44 Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup unfolds on September 20.
Team manager Paolo Trillo said the 31-year-old Durham was already practicing with the Bolts since Monday under the supervision of head coach Norman Black.
Durham led the Bolts to two championship round appearances during the 2016 and 2017 Governors’ Cup but lost to Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in both showdowns.
“So far, he (Durham) is in good shape, he just played in a league in Japan and the US. He is the same reliable import. He has been with us for so long and everybody’s familiar with him,” Trillo told The Manila Times through a phone interview on Sunday.
Durham averaged 28.7 points, 17.2 rebounds and 7.2 assists in the last Governors’ Cup where the Bolts lost to Alaska in the semifinals.
“At this point, he is the perfect fit for us. We want to do better this conference so we brought him back,” ended Trillo.
