A North Vancouver RCMP officer is leaving behind a hilarious memento for speeding drivers to remember him by.

Const. Matt McCoy has spent the last eight years working in North Vancouver but marked his last shift in B.C. on Wednesday before being transferred to Alberta.

Prior to his departure, however, McCoy posed for a photograph that was then turned into a wooden cutout to be used as a speed deterrent throughout the North Vancouver community.

The “fake McCoy” reported for duty earlier this week on Delbrook Avenue where RCMP noticed an “immediate” reduction in speeding along the route, according to an RCMP press release.

North Vancouver police say there are now plans to assign the wooden McCoy to various areas of the city and district, targeting areas with speed problems.
