MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration is set to deport the recently nabbed American and British sex offenders who have pending cases in their home countries.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente identified the sex offenders as American national Shane Edward Scism, 45, and British national William James Neville Ireland, 68.
Scism is wanted in New York in the United States for his failure to register as a sex offender while Ireland is wanted in the United Kingdom for pedophilia back in 1996.
The immigration bureau arrested Scism in Marikina City last August 16 pending his arrest warrant released by the State of New York last July 30.
Ireland, meanwhile, was arrested last August 14 in Lubao, Pampanga following his inclusion in the UK National Crime Agency’s wanted list and the Interpol’s red notice as he faces seven counts of indecent assault of a female and two counts of gross indecency with a child.
“We will immediately deport them as their continued stay in the country poses a serious threat to our women and children. Both are undesirable aliens who must be expelled from our country without delay,” Morente said in a statement.
Further, Morente said that the two will be included in the immigration’s blacklist and will be banned from re-entering the country.
BI intelligence officer and FSU chief Bobby Raquepo found that Ireland arrived in the country back in October 2013 as a tourist in a move to avoid questioning from British authorities.
Meanwhile, Scism arrived in the country in 2017 to relocate and escape his liabilities in the United States.
Scism and Ireland are both detained at the BI’s detention center in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig while they wait for their deportation. /je
