The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Quezon City agreed to further strengthen the the latter’s Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) following President Rodrigo Duterte’s call to accelerate and streamline all government transactions.
In a statement on Monday, DTI said Quezon City will eventually integrate the barangay clearance in the processing and make the fire safety inspection clearance a post registration requirement.
Duterte signed last year the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act, which aims to reduce the prescribed processing time for business transactions.
The law requires every city/municipality to have a BOSS within the local government unit where business permitting and licensing processes are done.
It mandates for a single or unified business application form which consolidates all the information of the applicant instead of a multiple forms system for different departments.
Ultimately, the law requires for the automation of all business permits and licensing in all cities and municipalities within 3 years from its passage or in 2021.
Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez and Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Director General Jeremiah Belgica earlier emphasized the need to continuously improve the processes for permits and licenses.
“Mayor Belmonte expressed commitment in streamlining further other processes such as in obtaining occupancy permits where the city already features a One-Stop Shop for Construction Permits,” said DTI.
Aside from Quezon City, Manila also earlier established a business one-stop shop.
“Manila’s BOSS initiative will streamline the issuance of local business license, clearances, permits, certification and authorizations, as well as manage the flow of documents to cut down their business process from eight days or more to one day only,” said Belgica.
