IN THE KNOW: Aug. 12 is International Humanitarian Day

International Humanitarian Law Day is celebrated in the country every Aug. 12 in accordance with Executive Order No. 134 signed by former President Joseph Estrada in Manila on July 31, 1999.
According to the order, the Department of National Defense and Department of Foreign Affairs are directed to cochair an ad hoc committee that will implement yearly activities for the celebration. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
