Rains to persist in Metro Manila, parts of Luzon due to habagat—Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Residents of Metro Manila and parts of Luzon will still experience rains on Saturday, the state weather bureau said.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the southwest monsoon or habagat is still being enhanced by Typhoon “Hanna” (International name “Lekima”), which made landfall in eastern China.

Monsoon rains are expected over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Lagun, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon province), Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands.

Meanwhile, the Bicol region and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) will have cloudy skies with scattered rains.

Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies throughout the day, and may experience localized thunderstorms in the evening, Pagasa said.

Typhoon “Krosa”, which the state weather bureau is also monitoring, was last spotted at 2,025 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.

“Krosa” will have no effect in the country, Pagasa said.
