WEATHER-PERMITTING, another explosive showdown is in store for NCAA fans today as four-peat seeking San Beda University and streaking Letran renew their rivalry at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

If weather cooperates – the matches yesterday were suspended again due to continued foul weather – the showdown between the Lions and Knights is scheduled at 2 p.m. with the former going for their fifth straight win.

The Knights, mentored by Bonnie Tan, are out to improve their 5-1 mark.

Clashing at 4 p.m. are host Arellano University and Mapua.

The country’s oldest collegiate league has already suspended three playing dates already this month following the cancellation of classes on all levels.

This included yesterday’s senior’s double-header pitting unbeaten St. Benilde against Jose Rizal University and Emilio Aguinaldo College opposite San Sebastian College at The Arena in San Juan.

The NCAA Management Committee (MANCOM) – led by its chairman Peter Cayco – will turn over P100,000 cash donation to the earthquake-hit Batanes led by Governor Marilou Cayco at halftime of the San Beda and Letran game.

In the three playing dates that were called off, San Beda was supposed to play in two, August 2 against St. Benilde and August 6 opposite Mapua, while Letran was to play CSB also last Tuesday. (WAYLON GALVEZ)
