A low pressure area (LPA) may develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 to 36 hours, the state-run weather bureau said on Saturday.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that as of 10 a.m., the LPA, to be named “Hanna,” was 875 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes.
Monsoon rains will be experienced over Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Antique, Guimaras, and the northern portion of Negros Occidental in the next 24 hours, Pagasa said.
Pagasa also said that cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers will affect other parts of Luzon and Visayas.
The public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take precautionary measures. JIM PILAPIL, JAN ARCILLA
