A low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has been bringing rain in parts of the country, the state-run weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) spotted the LPA at 600 kilometers east-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes.
Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said the LPA would unlikely develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours but its trough would bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Regions.
Meanwhile, a southwest monsoon prevails over Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms in these areas.
Only localized thunderstorms are forecast to affect Metro Manila and the rest of the country. DIVINA NOVA JOY DELA CRUZ
