Fil-American Remedy Rule reset the national record in the women’s 100-meter butterfly at the start of the 18th FINA World Swimming Championships in Gwangju, South Korea over the weekend.

Rule, a 23-year-old graduate of University of Texas, clocked 1:00.42 to erase the four-year-old mark of 1:01.00 posted by Jasmine Alkhaldi in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games in Singapore.

Her performance, though, was only good for 30th place out of 52 swimmers across the world that raced in the heats with Sarah Sjoestroem of Sweden pocketing the gold medal in 56.45sec.

Still, she inched closer to the 59.66sec Olympic Selection Time for the 2020 Tokyo Games.
