LAS VEGAS – Barring an upset Saturday night, Manny Pacquiao can find himself back in action by November or December against one of the fighters under the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) banner.
Leonard Ellerbe, Chief Executive Officer of Mayweather Promotions, which has strong links with PBC, said on Friday that assuming Pacquiao gets past Keith Thurman in their World Boxing Association title showdown at the MGM Grand, he might fight one more time before the year ends.
“He’s been very active. What I really love that they’ve been doing is they’ve been working smarter and not harder. Preserving his body. He is listening to his body. He knows how to push himself and take the time off,” Ellerbe said.
Pacquiao, 40, is very much like Mayweather, who is 42, according to Ellerbe.
“To an older fighter that (rest) is very important. I speak first-hand to that because with Floyd, who is an older fighter. He would have to take days off he normally wouldn’t take when he was younger.”
Because of this approach, Pacquiao, according to Ellerbe, “remains fresh” and this would result to an electrifying performance.”
Should Pacquiao do this, Ellrebe said Pacquiao “has a number of guys he can fight,” including Danny Garcia of Puerto Rico since they are all PBC fighters.
