8 of 10 Pinoys trust Duterte, Pulse Asia survey finds out

President Duterte continues to enjoy majority trust and approval ratings and remains the most trusted and approved top government official, the latest Pulse Asia survey released yesterday said.
In the nationwide survey conducted last June 24 to 30 with 1,200 adult respondents, 85 percent approved the performance of Duterte while only three percent disapproved and 11 percent were undecided.
Pulse Asia said the President’s performance rating is “essentially unchanged” from 87 percent in March 2019.
Duterte’s trust rating remained unchanged between March 2019 and June 2019 at 85 percent.
His performance rating in Metro Manila (81 percent), rest of Luzon (82 percent), and Visayas (90 percent) is also unchanged between March and June.
However, the President’s performance rating in Mindanao declined from 97 percent last March to 91 percent in June.
Pulse Asia also found out that more respondents belonging to the upper-to-middle Class ABC (77 percent in March from 82 percent in June) approved Duterte’s performance. Those belonging to Class D or “masa” and Class E or the “poorest” still appreciate the President’s work, with 85 percent and 87 percent, respectively.
On the other hand, trust in the President improved among Metro Manila residents from 77 percent in March to 83 percent in June but declined among the Class E from 90 percent to 86 percent.
Also in the survey, Pulse Asia found out that 55 percent approved Vice President Leni Robredo’s performance, 24 percent disapproved, and 21 percent were undecided, improving six percentage points from 49 percent last March.
More respondents have trust in the Vice President at 52 percent (from 47 percent in March). Twenty-six percent expressed distrust (from 23 percent), while 22 percent (from 30 percent) were undecided.
Senate President Vicente Sotto III gained a 77 percent approval rating in June from 65 percent in March and trust rating of 73 percent from 61 percent.
Nearly half of Filipino adults (47 percent) disapproved the work of House Speaker Gloria M. Arroyo while 41 percent were either appreciative of or undecided about the performance of Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin. (Ellalyn Ruiz)
