The race car driven to the limits by members of the Petron-powered Team Race Form Garage 2233 won first overall in the grueling Petron Kalayaan Cup 12-hour Endurance Run held at the Clark International Speedway on Independence Day.
Managed by Francis Godinez, with Antonio Brias, Don Pastor, Enrique Hormillo and Jason Choachuy as drivers, Team Race Form Garage 2233 used their new Mazda Miata Global Cup Car to complete 274 laps during the long 12-hour race, emerging the overall champion. Their car was powered by Petron Blaze 100 Euro 6, recognized as the best gasoline in the country, especially by race drivers.
Coming in second and third overall were the entries of Auto Performance, which encountered some problems during the endurance race that made them fall down the leaderboard.
Petron-sponsored teams also performed well in the other Independence Day race categories. Driving a Honda Civic, Mon Dimapilis, Danby Yaptinchay, Ditrie Villacorta and Allen Escoto of the Petron Blaze Racing Team won the Class 2 championship with 220 laps.
Carlo Consumido’s Petron Tora Tora team with Chad Parian, Walter Rillorta, Francis de los Reyes, and Paolo Yaptinchay on a Honda Civic hatchback finished first runner-up in the Class 1 category.
The Petron Kalayaan Cup is an endurance race traditionally held during Philippine Independence Day. A car is driven by a team of alternating drivers attempting to complete as many laps as possible in the race circuit.
As the industry leader, Petron is also a major force in Philippine motor sports, providing support for such events as the Toyota Vios Cup, MP Turbo’s Rally of Champions and the premiere regional, open-wheel F4 Southeast Asia Championship.
