Dried marijuana leaves valued at P120,000 were seized by the police from a 20-year-old first year hotel and restaurant management student in a buy-bust operation in Quezon City last Friday.
Quezon City Police District Station 10 (Kamuning) chief Lt. Col. Benjie Tremor identified the suspect as Warren German of Barangay Lolomboy in Bocaue, Bulacan.
Tremor said German was involved in using and selling illegal drugs, particularly marijuana, for some time now but did not say how the suspect ended up in the illegal drugs trade.
Initial investigation showed that personnel of the QCPD Station 10 Drug Enforcement Unit received a tip about German’s illegal activities.
A surveillance operation was conducted.
Police confirmed that German was indeed involved in the illegal drugs trade, and immediately planned a buy-bust operation in front of a drugstore in Barangay Apolonio Samson, Quezon City.
A police poseur-buyer managed to purchase P15,000 worth of dried marijuana leaves from German, resulting into the suspect’s arrest.
Seized from the suspect was a brick of dried marijuana leaves weighing at least a kilo with an estimated street value of P120,000.
Also recovered from German were his mobile phone which police said was used in his drug transactions and the buy-bust money.
German is now under police custody and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Alexandria San Juan)
