‘Bato’ dares UN panel to prove EJKs

Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa yesterday dared the United Nations Human Rights Council to prove the allegations of extrajudicial killings under the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.
Dela Rosa, who graced the second founding anniversary of the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group in Camp Crame, Quezon City, said he is open to the investigation that will be made by the UNHRC “because we have nothing to hide.”
“Kung gusto nila, wala naman tayo tinatago kaya tama ‘yan. Investigate kung anong gusto nilang malaman because we have nothing to hide. Let them investigate whatever they want to know,” the tough-talking Dela Rosa said.
“Come here and cut my head off if this is State-sponsored, ‘yung alleged EJKs. You can come down and cut my head if this is state-sponsored. Tapos ang usapan,” he added.
The former PNP chief said the UNHRC was “misled” by “people who only want to bring down the government.”
Senate President Vicente Sotto yesterday slammed the countries that adopted the UNHRC resolution calling for a comprehensive report on the human rights situation in the Philippines.
Sotto claimed that the 18 of the 47 countries which voted for the Iceland-initiated resolution are “tolerant” of illegal drugs.
“Those countries supporting the Iceland reso are probably dangerous drugs tolerant,” Sotto said in response to the resolution.
Sotto said the Philippines should “disregard” the resolution passed by “biased” countries.
The staunch anti-illegal drugs advocate maintained his position against drug pushers. “When you sell illegal drugs and destroy lives and families, you lose your human rights!” Sotto said on Twitter. (Martin Sadongdong and Vanne Terrazola)
