Palace condemns killing of Kidapawan radio station manager

MANILA, Philippines – The Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) condemned Friday the killing of a radio station manager in Kidapawan City in Cotabato province.
“The Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) strongly denounces and is deeply saddened by the cowardly killing of Brigada News FM – Kidapawan Station Manager Eduardo Sanchez Dizon,” the task force said in a statement.
Dizon was shot dead while driving home at around 10:05 p.m. on Wednesday along Maharlika Highway by gunmen on a motorcycle.

PTFoMS said Dizon died after sustaining five gunshot wounds in the body, adding that authorities have already conducted a hot pursuit operation against the killers.
Jose Joel Sy Egco, PTFoMS Executive Director will fly to Kidapawan City to meet and personally condole with the family and friends of Dizon,
PTFoMs said Egco would also seek a case conference with Col. Ma. Joyce Raro of the Kidapawan City Police Station and talk with the probers assigned to the case.
“The PTFoMS presumes any media killing as work-related, until further investigation proves otherwise,” the task force said.
“The TF (task force) is on top of the situation and is closely coordinating with the authorities regarding this incident and follow-up investigations are being monitored by the Task Force,” it added.
In October 2016, President Rodrigo Duterte signed administrative order number 1, which created the PTFoMs. /muf
