Phoenix Pulse coach Louie Alas said the team remains in the dark with regards to the conditions needed in order for the PBA to lift the indefinite suspension handed to Calvin Abueva last month.
Alas said Abueva had to submit a written explanation to the Games and Amusements Board, which told the controversial star to air his side regarding the clothesline hit he made on TNT KaTropa import Terrence Jones.
Abueva had earlier submitted a written apology to PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial, which left Alas and the Fuel Masters to wonder why an explanation from GAB was needed.
“Wala kasing parameters kung ano gagawin. Hindi malinaw (It’s not clear as to what the parameters are),” Alas said after Phoenix’s 128-108 loss to San Miguel Beer last Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“Nagtanong din ako sa lawyer at dapat daw may binibigay na parameters kung bakit mo sinuspend indefinitely. Kailangan bigyan nila ng linaw yung tao kasi parang vinaviolate nila yung rights niya,” added Alas.
(“I even asked a lawyer and told me that there must be parameters given as to why he was suspended indefinitely because it’s like they’re violating his rights.”)
The Jones hit and the lewd gesture made at Blackwater rookie Ray Parks Jr’s girlfriend Maika Rivera prompted the league to punishment Abueva with the indefinite suspension and a fine of P70,000.
