KIM Domingo is single again, having broken up with her basketball player boyfriend of three years, Mike Acuña.
It was only a few months ago when she told us how they were already looking forward to having a baby.
Note they have been living together under one roof in the course of their relationship.
Did she regret doing so?
“Hindi,” was Kim’s short reply.
Prodded for more, she said, “Pagdating sa relationship wala akong pinagsisisisihan. Kasi lahat naman ng desisyon ko sa buhay ginusto ko in the first place.”
Kim was sporting a short do when we saw her.
She denied it has something to do with the breakup.
“Actually wig lang ‘to (laughs). Nag-try lang ako kung bagay sa akin kasi ayoko magpagupit naman agad so, try try muna ako ng iba’t ibang looks.”
Kim didn’t detail the whys and hows of the breakup, maintaining simply it was a “mutual decision.”
“Ayoko na magkwento,” she added. “Basta ano, happy ako, happy din siya. In good terms kami.”
Is she now ready to jump into a new relationship?
According to the 25-year-old, she’d rather focus on work for now.
She is set to star alongside Kris Bernal, Rayver Cruz, and Megan Young in “Hanggang sa Dulo ng Buhay Ko,” GMA-7’s newest afternoon series, which premieres July 22 after “Eat Bulaga.”
Asked why she accepted a supporting role she said, “Maganda kasi ‘yung role, hindi pa masyado ma-i-explain sa first few days ng show pero may important twist sa story na involved ‘yung character ko.”
Kim wants to do away with her sexy image, making sure to do less and less of it in the coming months and years.
The reason? She wants to establish herself a credible actress.
“Ayokong isipin ng mga tao na ‘yun lang ang kaya kong gawin,” she said. “Nagawa ko naman na siya, gusto ko naman mag-try na ng iba.”
Rumor has it that Kim turned down several lead roles already as part of the move.
She would not confirm such though, saying simply, “Masaya ako na sinusuportahan ng GMA management ang desisyon ko.”
“Mahirap kasing gawin ang isang bagay na hindi ka na masaya, e. Hindi mo na na-e-enjoy iyong trabaho mo.”
But she is still doing sexy stuff in “Bubble Gang?”
“Actually, binawasan na. Hindi na ako nagto-two piece dun, one-piece na l a n g . So, may konting skin pero konti na lang talaga. Hindi na rin ako gumagawa ng ‘Patikim ni Kim.’”
She is aware she could lose a huge chunk of her fan base in the process but she is adamant.
“Okay lang, naiintindihan ko naman sila. Pero kasi gusto ko talaga mag-try na ng iba.”
She added, “Ni-ready ko naman na ‘yung sarili ko na kung sakaling dumating ‘yung panahon na medyo hindi ka na pinapansin ganyan, at least sinubukan kong gawin ‘yung magpapasaya sa akin bilang tao so, hindi ako magsisisi.” (NEIL RAMOS)
