CEBU CITY – A 41-year-old German national was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing children and distributing child sexual exploitation materials through the Internet.
The foreigner, who is believed to be a computer engineer, was arrested last Wednesday in his home in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City following the implementation of a search warrant by operatives of the Women and Children Protection Center-Visayas Field Unit (WCPC-VFU).
Police also rescued the German’s two-year-old son, who was shown in some of the sexually explicit images stored in the suspect’s electronic device.
The suspect’s identity was withheld since his son was also a victim of the illegal activity, police said.
In a joint statement by the WCPC-VFU and the International Justice Mission, the arrest of the German national came two weeks after the police rescued two siblings aged six and seven, who were previously victimized by the suspect.
The rescued siblings as well as the suspect’s son have been turned over to the Department of Social and Welfare Development for trauma-informed interventions.
It was sometime in 2017 when the Queensland Police Service (QPS) found out that the suspect has been producing sexually explicit images of Filipino children. (Calvin Cordova)
