Angat Dam water level dips anew

The water level at Angat Dam yesterday went down again amid the temporary weakening of the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration monitoring said the dam’s water level was down to 161.45 meters from 161.69 meters last Friday. It is above the 160-meter critical level but still way below its 180-meter minimum operating level and 210-meter normal high water level.
The National Water Resources Board maintains the allocation of 36 cubic meters per second to the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System for domestic water supply in Metro Manila for July. It earlier explained that maintaining the allocation is one way to manage the water deposit from Angat Dam as well as secure both domestic and irrigation requirements for the rest of the year.
Meanwhile, PAGASA weather specialist Meno Mendoza said today, Luzon and some parts of Visayas will have generally warm and humid weather in the morning with isolated rain showers in the afternoon or evening.
A low-pressure area 260 kilometers north-northwest of Zamboanga del Sur will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Aklan, Antique, Negros Occidental, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, South Cotabato, Sarangani, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay.
