Creamline bucked a slow start to beat Pacifictown Army, 16-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-16, on Wednesday for its eighth straight win in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
The victory hiked the Cool Smashers’ win-loss tally to 8-1, tying fellow early semifinalist PetroGazz Angels at the helm with one assignment left in the double-round eliminations.
Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin and Venezuelan Ale Blanco starred for Creamline with their smart plays to finish with 19 and 16 points. Kaewpin spiked her performance with 16 kills and three blocks while Blanco posted 10 attacks, four blocks and two aces.
Alyssa Valdez also provided the spark for the Cool Smashers with 11 points, Michele Gumabao and Pau Soriano added six points apiece, and Jia Morado delivered 28 excellent sets.
After a shaky opening set, Creamline regrouped in the second frame with Valdez, Kaewpin and Blanco shattering the Lady Troopers’ weak net defense.
Army fell to its fifth win in nine games, putting its semis bid in peril with BanKo-Perlas (3-5) and Motolite lurking behind.
The Perlas Spikers currently play the BaliPure Water Defenders to keep their semis campaign alive.
Olena Lymareva-Flink scored 22 points in a failed attempt for Army.
