MIKE’S HEALTH: “You’re really good in acting,’’ thus says Tita Babes, wife to Mike Enriquez on the latter’s back-to-normal performance on his radio and TV programs.
Mike himself tells us this aside as we spoke at a GMA radio event announcing DZBB’s expansion of its Radyo na, TV Pa platform.
We couldn’t help but agree with Mike’s wife. The veteran anchorman’s delivery of news and public service on his programs, “Saksi” and “24 Oras,” never changed one bit following his quadruple by-pass in 2018.
Mike says he’s not exactly in the pink of health just yet. Thrice a week, he undergoes dialysis, a condition that often leads to mixed feelings of uneasiness and discomfort. He looks forward to a kidney transplant operation soon.
“Feeling ko, lutang,’’ he said.
We assure Mike such a feeling isn’t transmitted on his broadcasts. His audience never miss the high-strung, powerful barker tone that marks his performance.
“Maybe I’m really a good actor, after all,’’ he laughed.

NEWS OF THE DAY: Our conversation with Mike was a mere sidelight to that afternoon’s event at GMA Network. Aside from Mike, the rest of the anchors on “Dobol B Sa News TV” were on hand to share the good news that the station has extended its Radyo na, TV Pa format from 6 am to 12 noon, Mondays to Sundays.
Jumpstarting weekday mornings on Super Radyo DZBB 594 kHz is Melo del Prado with news of the day at 6 a.m.
Mike Enriquez and Joel Reyes Zobel deliver the biggest news stories on “Super Balita sa Umaga” at 7 a.m.
Mike later on interviews newsmakers on “Saksi sa Dobol B” at 8.
At 9:30, Arnold Clavio and Ali Sotto dish out blind items in “Sino?,” followed by “Dobol A Sa Dobol B.”
“Kay Susan Tayo!,” by Susan Enriquez, airs at 11.
