President Duterte has named former acting Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Virginia Orogo as undersecretary at the Department of Agrarian Reform.
Official Palace documents released yesterday said Orogo was appointed to the position last June 13 to replace Undersecretary David Erro.
Orogo became acting DSWD chief in May last year, taking the place of former DSWD head Emmanuel Leyco who replaced Secretary Judy Taguiwalo when the Commission on Appointments rejected her appointment.
Orogo was replaced in the DSWD by former Army chief Rolando Bautista.
Prior to her appointment at the DAR, Orogo served as DSWD Undersecretary for Special Concerns.
Meanwhile, Duterte also signed the appointment of Aldrin Darilag as new Commission on Higher Education commissioner last June 13.
He will serve until July 21, 2020, replacing Prospero de Vera III who became CHED chairperson on Oct. 12, 2018. Darilag will serve until July 21, 2022.
De Vera replaced Patricia Licuanan whom Duterte fired in January last year due to excessive overseas trips.
Other appointments: Aurelio de Leon as a member of the Philippine Racing Commission, representing the racehorse owners’ association.
De Leon will serve for four years, replacing Ramon Bagatsing Jr. (Argyll Cyrus B. Geducos)
