ARE there heartbreaks, delays, losses and disappointments? Forward march! “Fix your eyes on your purpose”.
Without a sense of purpose and contribution to society, a person will not be able to have a happy and satisfied life, no matter how wealthy he is. It’s the purpose-driven person who wakes up with energy and excitement every morning. His eyes are fixed on his mission. Every heartache and difficulty looks small to him because there is a bigger goal. Even misunderstandings and losses are not able to dampen his spirits. He easily gets up and tells himself, “Forward march!”
American essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well”. Former US politician Robert F. Kennedy had the same belief, “The purpose of life is to contribute in some way to making things better”.
Do you devote time and effort to something which is bigger than yourself? What gives purpose and meaning to each day that you are alive? If you do something for others you end up being happy. The giver becomes the recipient.
Know your purpose. Live your purpose. Happiness will follow!
