TARLAC CITY –– A fraternal twin shared the stage after graduating with honors during the 30th commencement exercises of the Tarlac State University on Friday (June 14).

Saying they were inspired by their father, Frederick Herman Israel Galang, and Ma. Quennie Anne Kate Galang graduated cum laude after completing a criminology course.

The twins said they grew up in military camps where their father, retired Lt. Col. Frederick Galang, was assigned.

“Joining the uniformed services was a natural life course for us because that’s how we were raised,” Kier said.

The twins said they were not competitive in grade school and high school, but college gave them the opportunity to excel academically.

“My grades in high school were so low. But we enjoyed college life. we became student leaders. The truth is I only received three medals growing up,” said Kier, who was elected external vice governor of the student body. Kate served as governor of the TSU College of Criminal Justice Education.

They were also athletes. Kier was a swimmer, while Kate played ‘right fielder’ of the softball team for two years.

“I taught myself to aspire for topnotcher or to pass and to never fail. That’s how I pursued my goals – pass or take the top post,” Kier added.

Kier plans to enter the Philippine National Police Academy while Kate wants to pursue a course in aviation.

But not before they ace their licensure exams on November 2019, the twins said.
