Group backs Cayetano bid for House Speaker

A cause-oriented group has backed Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano as the next Speaker of the House of Representatives.
According to Malayang Mamamayan para sa Pagbabago ng Lipunan, Cayetano is the most qualified to lead the House as he has proven time and again to President Duterte that he can indeed deliver.
In 2016, it said, the then-Davao City mayor won by a big margin in Taguig, Cayetano’s bailiwick.
Three years later, candidates of Hugpong ng Pagbabago founded by the President’s daughter, reelected Davao City Mayor Sara, also topped the Senate race.
“He’s the obvious choice. Why? Abroad, he even defended President Duterte and his war on drugs. He was even sued, along with the President, by Atty. Jude Sabio in international courts,” the MMPL added.
The group added that Cayetano’s character has also been proven. MMPL said Cayetano continues to champion good governance and sincerely despises corruption when he was congressman and senator.
