“I will be submitting a positive report to Malacañang,” stated Philippine Sports Commission and Team Philippines Chef de Mission William Ramirez after holding successful consecutive meetings between national sports associations and coaches of the national teams.
Ramirez is set to update the Office of the President through the Office of Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, to apprise the Palace about developments in Team Philippines’ preparation for the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
It would be recalled that after refusing the CDM position, Ramirez accepted the same upon the instructions of Malacanang, with the hopes of pushing for unity in the sports community mired with politics and discord.
“I am heartened to see their show of support and commitment,” the CDM said after a good turn-out and positive outcome during the assessment meeting with NSA presidents and secretaries general last week and the dynamic exchange with national coaches last Tuesday.
Both Philippine Olympic Committee President Ricky Vargas and Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee Chairman, Congressman Alan Peter Cayetano were present during the said meeting with sports leaders.
“It was a good chance to get updated not only on preparations for the Games but with their concerns in general,” Ramirez explained, adding “I am wearing two hats at the same time so this is hitting two birds with one stone.”
The more than 100 national coaches who attended the meeting pledged their efforts to aim for the top spot in the 30th SEAG, affixing their signatures on a commitment wall during the meeting.
“We might be facing a challenging road ahead in the next six months but with everyone promising to do their share, as I said before – impossible is not a problem,” Ramirez assured.
The PSC chief also shared that they are targeting to finalize all basic provisions of the national team like track suits, parade uniforms, luggages and equipment by June 30.
