Trade deficit down slightly in April

THE country’s trade went down to $3.50 billion in April from $3.70 billion a year ago as exports slightly went up while imports contracted, , the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Tuesday.
April’s trade deficit was still higher compared to the $3.10 billion recorded in March this year.
PSA said total export sales during the month increased by 0.4 percent to $5.51 billion from $5.48 billion in the same month last year.
Total value of imported goods on the other hand, went down by 1.9 percent from $9.18 billion to $9.01 billion this year.
