President Duterte has asked the six board members and the president of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. to turn in their resignations for allowing the State insurance fund to lose millions in fraudulent claims.

Senator-elect Bong Go yesterday confirmed that despite his trust, Duterte has asked PhilHealth acting president Roy Ferrer to turn in his courtesy resignation as command  responsibility.

Duterte also asked the six PhilHealth board members to resign, along with the agency’s regional vice presidents, because of a supposed conflict among officials in the regions.

According to Go, Duterte will still give them a chance to explain their side when he meets them in Malacañang yesterday afternoon. However, it is likely that the President will accept their resignation.

“Dismayado po ang Pangulong Duterte bakit nila pinabayaang makalusot sa kanilang mga kamay ang ganito,” he said. “Gusto ni Presidente lahat revamp talaga. Kahit palitan mo ‘yung board, yung mga RVPs nandiyan pa rin…sa kanila nakalusot eh,” he added.

Go also said that Duterte is now looking for strict people with good managerial skills to take over PhilHealth.

“Naghahanap siya ng manager na mangangalaga. Isa sa kinoconsider niya lady doctor na retired military o police,” Go said.

“Manager na istrikto na kayang pangalagaan ang pera. Napakalaking amount lalo na ngayon with the Universal Health Care. Napakalaking responsibilidad na po ng head ng PhilHealth,” he added.

Duterte said he is forced to reshuffle PhilHealth’s ranks because of the amount of money lost to fraud.

“For the sheer amount that was lost, I have to reorganize your entity, change maybe all of you, install a more… systems of accounting and accountability,” Duterte said.

“Bakit umabot ng ganoon kalaki without the necessary checks along the way? When it becomes clear that the amount is getting big, somebody should look somewhere. I really do not know how to do it, I am not a systems analyst,” he added. (Argyll Geducos)
