MANILA, Philippines — The Luzon grid will be under yellow and red alerts on certain periods this Thursday, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said.
In a Facebook post, the NGCP announced that Luzon will be placed under yellow alert from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again on 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
A “yellow alert” is raised when “a grid’s reserve power—the difference between supply and demand—is below the required level,” according to the NGCP.
Meanwhile, the NGCP will raise a red alert from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
A “red alert” status is raised when there is a likelihood that demand will outstrip available generating capacity.
