An Antipolo City Police Community Precinct commander and a jail guard were relieved after seven inmates escaped from their detention cell yesterday morning.
Removed from their posts were Police Lt. Amador Razo, Antipolo PCP 2 commander, and duty jail guard Police Lt. Christian Lagac.
They are now being investigated by the Rizal police to determine their command responsibility in the escape of the prisoners.
The escapees were identified as Dominic Gabanez, Adrian Demetrio, Angelo Roberto, Russel Martinez, Murphy Sison, Benedict Belmonte, and Edward Magalo.
The suspects are facing various cases.
Reports reaching the Rizal PNP headquarters showed that the inmates managed to escape by scaling the gate bars of the Antipolo City PCP 2 around 3:30 a.m.
Magalo was back in jail after he was surrendered by his relatives to the authorities yesterday.
The inmates were supposed to be transferred to a new detention cell. A head count was conducted that led to the discovery of the incident.
Police are now conducting a follow-up investigation to recapture the other inmates. (Madelynne Dominguez)
