The Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) is going full blast this month in its public awareness campaign of the country’s hosting of the 30th SEAG late this year.
Phisgoc Chief Operating Officer Ramon ‘Tats’ Suzara said on Saturday that billboards and streamers are soon going to rise and put up around the metropolis as the country gets ready to host ten other SEA nations for the Nov. 30-Dec. 11 sportsfest.
“We’ve just finished crucial meetings, including those with the diplomatic corps,” said Suzara, noting that matters of security were also tackled.
Suzara is upbeat in the buildup for the 2019 SEAG and that a meeting with officials of the massive Philippine Arena is already in the pipeline to discuss the logistics of the staging of the opening ceremonies.
Even the construction of the 20,000-seater track stadium in the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac, is “ahead of schedule,” said Suzara.
“It is close to 90 percent complete,” he said.
Fifty-six sports will be featured and 529 gold medals will be up for grabs when competitions get underway in key locales around Metro Manila and major cities in Southern and Central Luzon.
The Phisgoc is also getting ready to host the second of three chief of mission meetings in July.
“After the July CDM, a technical delegates meeting will follow and then the third and last CDM meeting takes place in October,” added Suzara.
