The National Bureau of Investigation has rescued 17 women, including a minor, from an alleged prostitution den disguised as a spa in Makati City.
Two persons allegedly operating the spa were arrested. NBI Director Dante Gierran identified the suspects as Edril de Vera and Jenny Coral who operate the Quija Spa on Burgos St.
The suspects were arrested during an entrapment operation conducted by the NBI Anti-Human Trafficking Division where De Vera and Coral were caught maintaining women for sexual exploitation in exchange for fees.
“Seized in plain view were boxes of condoms at the reception table,” the NBI said.
Three of the rescued women were subjected to dental ageing examination which suggests that they are also minors.
Gierran stated that the spa is a legitimate business but NBI surveillance operations showed that it offers massage for P1,000 and an additional P3,000 for sexual services dubbed as “extra service.” (Jeffrey Damicog)
