THE remains of a household worker who was killed in Kuwait will arrive later on Thursday, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
The DFA said it requested the Criminal Evidence Department of Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior to release the official forensic report on the death of Ma. Constancia Lago Dayag.
Dayag was dead when she was brought to the Al-Sabah Hospital on May 14 with various “contusions and hematoma as well as signs of sexual assault,” according to reports quoting medical staff.
The DFA has yet to provide the flight details of the arrival of Dayag’s ashes that were placed in an urn after she was cremated. She was supposed to turn 48 years old on May 22.
DFA Assistant Secretary Emmanuel Fernandez said the death certificate released by the Al-Sabah Hospital indicated that Dayag’s cause of death was “still under investigation.”
“Therefore, there is nothing to refute. Repeat, nothing to refute. Once the Kuwaiti report is released, we will double-check it with our own experts,” Fernandez said in a text message.
He said that the DFA and the Philippine embassy in Kuwait would continue to work with the Kuwaiti government for the speedy resolution of the felony murder case filed by the Kuwaiti General Prosecutor’s Office against the alleged unidentified suspect in Dayag’s murder.
“The Department has instructed our lawyer to pursue this case to a satisfactory resolution. Our lawyer has made representations with the Kuwaiti General Prosecutor’s Office to stress that the Philippine Government will intervene and provide evidence as appropriate,” Fernandez said.
