BALANGA CITY, Bataan — A suspected terrorist working as a security guard in Bulacan and Bataan provinces was arrested by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) inside a fast food restaurant in Balanga City, police said.
NBI agents arrested Musa Sampang, 45, from Manila on Monday after they have been tipped off that Sampang was a member of a terrorist group in Mindanao, said Police Col. Eduardo Guevarra, Balanga City police chief, in a belated report.
Guevarra refused to give details of the arrest, saying the operation was carried out by NBI agents.
Sampang’s wife Ana visited her husband at the NBI detention cell in Taft Avenue, Manila on Wednesday and confirmed Musa was being tagged as a member of a terrorist group, which the couple denied.
Sampang once worked as a security guard during the construction stage of the one-stop shop building in the provincial capital of Bataan.
But Sampang said he used to be a member of the Moro National Liberation Front of Nur Misuari.
The NBI tagged Sampang as the driver of a getaway vehicle involved in the Basilan bombing last year, which Sampang also denied. (Editor: Leti Boniol)
