Comelec completes canvassing of 167 CoCs

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec), sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), completed its canvassing of all 167 certificates of canvass (CoCs) following the electronic transmittal on Tuesday night of the last CoCs from Washington D.C.

The NBOC received the CoC from Washington at 10:45 p.m. or two and half hours after the votes were canvassed in the US capital at 8 p.m. Philippine time.

Only 39,511 voters actually cast their ballots or 17.29 percent of the 228,470 who registered in the area.

Results of the Comelec’s official canvassing for all 167 CoCs were still being tallied as of posting time, and will take at least an hour to finish the total results and ranking of the 12 winners in the senatorial race.

Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronaldo “Bato” dela Rosa got the highest number of votes in Washington D.C with 21,578, followed by Pia Cayetano with 21,332, Doc Willie Ong, 20,750; Cynthia Villar, 20,548; Grace Poe, 19,013; Christopher “Bong” Go, 18,881;

Imee Marcos, 18,311; Juan Edgardo Angara, 17,917; Francis Tolentino, 17,329;  Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel 3rd, 16,406; Benigno “Bam” Aquino 4th, 15,515; and Manuel “Mar” Roxas 2nd 14,405.

At 13th was Sergio “Serge” Osmena with 13,409, followed by Chel Diokno,  12,656; and Lorenzo Erin Tanada, 12,321. WILLIAM B. DEPASUPIL
