Cop, pal held for mauling

A police corporal and his 19-year-old companion were arrested Monday after mauling two men who allegedly cursed them in Quezon City.
Police Lt. Col. Rossel Cejas, chief of Quezon City Police Station 4 (PS-4), identified the arrested cop as Police Cpl. Omar Lopez, 31, assigned to the Northern Police District (NPD) headquarters; and his companion Ajan Tigas, 19, both residents of Barangay Bagbag in Novaliches.
Police report showed that victims Marlon dela Cruz, 26, and Aljon Aromin, 29, were traversing Seminary Road corner Ero Street while onboard a motorcycle around 3 a.m., Monday when suspects allegedly cursed them.
Irked, Lopez and Tigas chased and mauled the victims.
The victims reported the incident to the Police Community Precinct 3 of (PS-4). The cops immediately responded, resulting in the arrest of the suspects and confiscation of Lopez’ 9mm service firearm.
The suspects are now in police custody pending the filing of physical injury charges against them at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office. (Alexandria San Juan)
