VICE President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo rejected the resignation of Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan as Liberal Party (LP) president.
Robredo is the party’s chairman.
“The VP has not accepted Senator Kiko’s and Cong. Kit’s resignations. Much work remains to be done, and they will do it, together,” lawyer Barry Gutierrez, Robredo’s spokesman, said in a statement on Tuesday.
Quezon City 6th District Rep. Jose Cristopher “Kit” Belmonte is the LP secretary general.
Pangilinan resigned his post over the “shutout” of the party’s Otso Diretso senatorial candidates from the “Magic 12,” including reelectionist Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino 4th who was in 14th place as of posting time. He said he was taking full responsibility for the loss. REINA C. TOLENTINO
