National Youth Commission chair Ronald Cardema is considered resigned from his post after filing a petition to become a substitute nominee for the Duterte Youth party-list group, Malacañang announced yesterday.
Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo said Cardema should vacate his office after he “abandoned” his post over his bid to become a party-list representative.
A replacement for Cardema will be appointed by President Duterte soon, he added.
“The petition for substitution of National Youth Commission Chairperson Ronald Cardema as first nominee of the Duterte Youth party-list, as well as the Commission on Elections’ confirmation that it was timely filed, connotes that he is considered ipso facto resigned from his present post,” Panelo said.
“The Palace therefore requires Cardema to vacate his office forthwith and turn over all official papers, documents, and properties in his possession to the Office of the President,” he said.
Cardema earlier filed a petition seeking to replace his wife as nominee of the Duterte Youth. The petition was reportedly filed a day before the elections, the deadline for substitution.
The administration-affiliated group currently ranks 20th in the partial, official results of the party-list race with more than 340,000 votes. (Genalyn Kabiling)
