THE Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) will continue to validate election returns, even after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) proclaims the winning candidates in the midterm elections, Executive Director Ma. Isabel Buenaobra said on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters Buenaobra admitted that she did not know what the Comelec’s plans were.
“We are continuing to validate our election returns (ERs) because that is important,” she said. “Physical ERs are going to be compared with that, which are electronically transmitted by the Comelec transparency server.”
Buenaobra said that it was the Comelec’s job to proclaim the winning candidates.
“The job of the PPCRV is not over until we have encoded and validated all physical election returns that are sent to us,” she said.
Buenaobra stated that as of midnight on Sunday, the PPCRV volunteers had encoded 46 percent of ERs.
“We have already encoded about 39,776 ER’s, out of 87,540 clustered precincts,” she said. “We are continuing to receive ERs from the provinces.”
On midnight on Sunday, the PPCRV received ERs from Albay, Negros Occidental, Cebu, overseas absentee voting, as well as partial returns from Basilan, North Cotabato, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Sultan Kudarat, Surigao del Norte, Sulu, Zamboanga Sibugay, Lanao del Sur, Lanao del Sur, South Cotabato, General Santos, and Agusan del Norte in Mindanao.
