MANILA, Philippines — The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) on Sunday said that they would continue encoding election returns and comparing them with results from the transparency server even after winning candidates had been proclaimed.
PPCRV Executive Director Maria Isabel Buenaobra said they were still waiting for election returns from various parts of the country to arrive and be encoded.
Asked if they would continue with their validation efforts after the proclamation, Buenaobra said that comparing the election returns was “important” to ensure that the elections were clean.
“Yes, even if proclamations are done, I don’t know what the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) plans are, we are continuing to validate the election returns,” Buenaobra told reporters at the PPCRV command center at the Pope Pius Catholic Center in Manila.
Buenaobra added that it was not the PPCRV’s call if the proclamation could be done partially amid re-elections in parts of the country.
“PPCRV does not have any statement on Comelec proclamations. That is their job. That is their prerogative,” Buenaobra said.
Comelec had said that no proclamation would be done on Sunday pending the transmission of certificates of canvass from local precincts and overseas absentee voting.
As of 12 a.m. Sunday, the PPCRV had encoded 46 percent of election returns nationwide.
Checking of transparency server’s audit logs
Buenaobra said that the audit logs of the transparency servers were still being checked by the PPCRV’s IT team.
PPCRV chair Myla Villanueva earlier told INQUIRER.net that the audit logs would help explain the seven-hour glitch that delayed the arrival of election results to the transparency server on Election Day.
“Ang logs ay parang historical record yan, kung ano yung ginagawa ng computer at that time, kung ano yung operations niya, at kung ano yung mga incidents na nangyayari sa making,” Villanueva said.
