La Salle student killed, ‘possibly raped’ in Batangas

SAN PEDRO CITY — A senior De La Salle Lipa student was found dead and possibly raped inside her bedroom in Lipa City, Batangas province Friday afternoon.
Police on Saturday said they still did not have a suspect but investigation was ongoing into the killing of Fidex Therese Maranan, 21.
Batangas police director Col. Edwin Quilates said Maranan’s relative went to the place located in a dormitory in Lourdes St. Miracle Heights Subdivision in barangay Antipolo Del Norte and discovered Fidex covered with a blanket lying on the bedroom floor at 3:30 p.m.
Quilates said the victim had a head wound caused by a blunt object and a stab wound in her neck. Initial autopsy also showed she could have been sexually assaulted.
It was not immediately clear if the victim lived alone in the house. (Editor: Jonathan P. Vicente)
