Manny Pacquiao showed up for pre-conditioning training in General Santos City in preparation yesterday for his July 20 welterweight war with undefeated American puncher Keith Thurman.
It was the first time in almost four months that Pacquiao got dressed for boxing following his Jan. 19 victory over Adrien Broner.
After the Broner fight, Pacquiao zeroed in on his Senate duties and election-related activities.
Although his first workout was extra-light, it was meant to get his system on training mode.
After next week’s two-city press tour in New York City and Los Angeles, Pacquiao, 40, will resume his daily gym sessions although it can’t be ruled out that he might even jog around Central Park.
In the past, Pacquiao went into training mode overseas by waking up early for roadwork.
When he was revving up for Broner, Pacquiao got out of his room at the Waldorf Astoria in Los Angeles last year, for shadowboxing and running.
In New York a couple of years ago, Pacquiao did the same thing, a sign that the Filipino southpaw remains dedicated to his craft.
Team Pacquiao leaves for New York on Sunday night for a commercial photo and video shoot on Monday morning. The kickoff and formal presscon takes place on Tuesday afternoon.
From New York, Pacquiao flies to Los Angeles for the second and final leg of the tour before catching the Philippine Airlines flight back to Manila.
