MANILA, Philippines — The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) on Wednesday said that they have so far only received about 10 percent of the physical copies of election returns, despite reporting the same numbers on Tuesday.

PPCRV spokesperson Agnes Gervacio on Tuesday night said that they have received nearly 10 percent of the physical copies of election returns in the country.

Asked for an update on Wednesday afternoon, PPCRV chairperson Myla Villanueva said that the received physical copies of election returns is still at around the same numbers.

“We are at about 10 percent; now sana medyo patient lang tayo. Alam ninyo, pagod na paged din ang ating mga volunteers at kino-consolidate, iniipon po nila at ipinapadala natin dito,” Villanueva told reporters at the PPCRV command center in Manila.

Villanueva said the election returns are physically transported from the precincts themselves to the command center, causing the slow arrival of the election results.

“Medyo na-spoil na tayo sa electronic at napaka-bilis [ng delivery]. Ito ay physical, nasa isa-sang precinct at ang ating kabataan ay naglalakad at kinoconsolidate sa iba’t-ibang parokya [ang mga election returns],” Villanueva said.

Despite this, Villanueva said that they are expecting to receive more election returns in the following days.

She said that most of the election returns they have received are from Metro Manila and Imus town in Cavite, while they are also expecting election returns from Northern Luzon and Visayas on Thursday.

“We expect though na dadami na ‘yan dahil dadalhin pa rin nila ‘yan sa transport at icoconsolidate hanggang maka-abot dito. Eroplano, barko, at kotse ang ginagamit. Hindi siya electronic, physical [siya],” Villanueva said.

The PPCRV manually encodes the physical copies of election returns and compares them to the electronic results in the transparency server to ensure the credibility of election results. (Editor: Julie Espinosa)
